Team gymnastics: floor, tumbling and trampet, judged as a whole. Explained by people who coach and compete in the sport, with the equipment each apparatus needs.
TeamGym is a European Gymnastics discipline in which teams compete on three apparatus: floor, tumbling and trampet. There are women's, men's and mixed teams, in juniors and seniors. There is no individual ranking: the team counts, with execution, difficulty and synchronisation as a whole.
The first European team championship was held in 1996 in Jyväskylä (Finland). Official TeamGym European Championships have existed since 2010, starting in Malmö (Sweden), and are held in even years.

Floor
The whole team performs a routine to instrumental music, between 2:15 and 2:45 minutes, on a 14 × 16 m floor. Judges assess composition (formations and transitions), difficulty (balances, jumps, acrobatic and flexibility elements and a group element) and synchronised execution.
Three rounds of 6 gymnasts on a 15 m track. The first is the team round, the same for every team, and the rounds must include one forward and one backward round. Each gymnast performs at least 3 elements, and the 7 × 4 m landing area sits at track height.
Three rounds of 6 gymnasts on the trampette: one with the vaulting table and one without, and the first is the team round. The same element cannot be repeated in another round. At the end of the run-up, the landing area is 35 cm high.
Getting to competition takes progression equipment: learning new skills safely, repeating them many times and adapting the height to each age group. That is where the MGYM line comes in, designed by TeamGym coaches and made to measure.
The whole team competes on floor. Tumbling and trampet have 3 rounds, each with 6 gymnasts.
How much space does tumbling need?
About 38 m in a line: a 16 m run-up, a 15 m track and a 7 m landing area, 4 m wide at the landing.
What equipment does a new club need?
Usually a track (airtrack), a landing area, a trampette and progression equipment such as a foam vaulting table, ramps and mats. Tell us your space, age groups and number of gymnasts and we will send a proposal.
Does MGYM set up equipment for competitions?
Yes. We handle equipment logistics for TeamGym competitions: transport, set-up and take-down.
